How It All Works

The awards process continues to evolve each year, taking account of feedback from entrants and judges to ensure that the process is as fair as possible with maximum benefits to all concerned. The following pages cover the key strands within the awards programme, which covers the counties of Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Cornwall & Devon businesses

Cornwall and Devon have their own tourism awards which link in with the SW Awards.  If your business is based in Cornwall or Devon, you must enter the Cornwall or Devon Tourism Awards for all but a few categories which are only run at the South West level.  Finalists from the Cornwall Tourism Awards and Devon Tourism Awards will automatically be ‘fast-tracked’ into the judging for the South West awards.

For information about the Cornwall Tourism Awards see www.cornwalltourismawards.co.uk

For information about the Devon Tourism Awards see www.devontourismawards.org.uk

Dorset businesses

We are in the final stages of preparation for the launch of the new Dorset Tourism Awards which, like Cornwall and Devon, will link directly into the South West awards.  These will cover all of Dorset, including Bournemouth & Poole.  Further information will be given here once we launch. In the meantime Dorset businesses should use information and entry forms on this website;  we will automatically include all Dorset entries in the relevant Dorset as well as South West categories.

Bristol businesses

Businesses in Bristol may enter the Bristol Hospitality Awards, which includes most, but not all, of the categories included in the South West awards. Bristol businesses are also encouraged to enter direct into the South West awards, recognising that Bristol is both one of England's top cities and also part of the UK's top tourism region.

For information about the Bristol Hospitality Awards, follow announcements at www.visitbristol.co.uk

Businesses in Somerset, Bath, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire & The Isles of Scilly

For businesses in these parts of the South West, there are currently no recognised local awards schemes, so please use the information and entry forms from this website to take part direct in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
