An Unexpected benefit of Awards!
The sisters of Red Hotels have teamed up with Ryan Vennings and Mick Smith of Porthminster Beach Cafe to open a new seafood restaurant at Bedruthan Steps Hotel in Spring 2012. The restaurant promises to be one of the best places to eat in Cornwall, providing another reason to visit the heart of the gourmet coast that is North Cornwall.
Emma Stratton, one of the sisters, says, ‘We had the idea about creating an iconic restaurant for Cornwall after getting on so well at numerous tourism award dinners that we were lucky enough to attend together. Our collaboration allows us to both to bring an exciting new approach to cooking Cornish Seafood and give guests a gourmet dining experience that will shine through on the plate.’
The new restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner daily and will embrace the sustainable ethos that is at the heart of both businesses. The food will be about perfectly cooked local and seasonal ingredients with the occasional Asian twist – showing off an award winning flair for technical brilliance grounded in local sourcing and the freshest fish and produce.
Ryan Vennings says, ‘I am looking forward to working in a new environment where I can use local sourcing and sustainable seafood, meanwhile purely focusing on good cooking techniques that have influenced me from across the globe. I am so proud and excited to be associated with this iconic new restaurant at Bedruthan Steps.’
Mick Smith says, ‘After meeting with the red group it became clear that our future goals are very similar, for me it would be silly not to work together. We are going to create a restaurant that is unique in its ethos and aspirations, I really can't wait to get this restaurant open, the ideas formed in this partnership are going to be groundbreaking and exciting!’
